Push Button Start 78 F150

Greetings all.

I did a search on this and got some helpful info, but still have a few questions. I understand how to get the push button itself to work, and I know how complex the key switch is. I plan to replace the whole key switch with toggles and a push button.

As far as I can tell, I only need two toggles - one for the acc. side and one for the "on" side (or whatever it's called).

Can someone tell me if that's correct or did I miss something?

Thanks!

You'll need at least 2. Starter(optional push button) and ingition/guages etc.
A third to play the radio without running the ignition is optional.
Plan "B"........ Fix it properly & you're good to go !

Thanks.

There's nothing to "fix" though. I'm replacing the entire dash and guages with a custom built one and don't want the key switch.

Be careful with the "on" side. If the factory switch has seperate sections for the hot in run wires, then you are going to need a seperate switch or a multi-pole switch for each section. If you take seperate hot in run sections and just twist the wires together and put them on one switch, you may find your starter wants to run all the time, or something crazy like that. If your starter solenoid has only one small terminal, and not two, it can happen.

Thanks Dave.

I read that in another post, too. I'm pretty sure my solenoid has two terminals, but I'll look for that when I take the switch apart.
