I have two Ford Rangers, as 1991 2wd STX 3.0L and a 1988 2wd XLT 2.3L. The '91 is a regular cab long box, the '88 an extended cab. My '88 has a junk motor, but brand new shocks that I would like to put on the front of my '91.
Does anyone know what the difference is in the shocks and whether the shocks from the '88 will work on the '91? NAPA tells me they have different part numbers and they won't break the seal on the box to make a comparison. I guess I could take one shock off of each truck and see, rather not, but to me they look to be the same shock. Suggestions or advice is appreciated...aren't these trucks the same chassis?
There is a model change difference in the years. I am not sure when there was a change, but the body style is different between the two years. I do believe that there was a up grade in the running gear as well. Yes they are close but not close enough.
