The 16x10's that i bought had to take off the truck were 16x10 american eagle 186's there were 4 1/4 backspacing. -31mm offset. i am running the 35in tire from up top. It was not rubbing at all when stopped like in the drive way no touch on the leafs even. the problom was when i would stop at a turn or somthing the weight of the truck would now go down of course and the luggs on the tire MTR's aggressive tire would chop into my fender guard i dont know exactly what you would call it the trim i guess. and well when it hit that i was like alright right time to put the stocks back on. i only rode the wheels for 3 days. there are in boxes brand new in my garage gotta sell em. but when i put those wheels on they pushed the tire a good 2 inches outside the body of the truck and on the stocks its inside just barely. i dont know im kinda at a loss right now i dont know what to do. i really want to get the 9in wide wheel by helo since the tire recomends an 8-10 wheel and im runnng a 7 and 9 is right in the middle not the least and not the most but its alot to spend on a gamble. the tire shop i went to this time said no problom no rub at all but i'v heard that before.. any more help is always appreciated thanks
My Eagle wheels are 16x8's and they are -20 offset and 3 5\8 BSM, they stick out about a 1\2 inch farther then stock, look just perfect! I run 295-75-16 tires and the bulge is perfect, plenty of wheel for my 12inch wide tires, No rub on the leafs or the fenders, this is the perfect offset for the 16x8's, looking at my truck you could easilly go a half inch in both directions (16x9's) if you wanted to.
I have these in the garage the 16x10's
-31mm offset
4 1/4 back spacing
Unless im reading it wrong?
Glad to hear that your tires dont rub miller, i think i will try to get the 16x9's from helo ..
The 16x8 from AE sound good but my tires are 315 75 16's so they are a little talked and wider i dont know i will have to wait and see i guess.
I am still open to what im thinking wrong or what i need to know or anyones personaly experience especially if your running somthing similar to what i have and your experiences...
Here's the definition of offset from the Tirerack:
The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel. The offset can be one of three types.
1. Zero Offset
The hub mounting surface is even with the centerline of the wheel.
2. Positive
The hub mounting surface is toward the front or wheel side of the wheel. Positive offset wheels are generally found on front wheel drive cars and newer rear drive cars.
3. Negative
The hub mounting surface is toward the back or brake side of the wheels centerline. "Deep dish" wheels are typically a negative offset.
31mm equals 1.22 inches, the center line (or zero offset) of a 10" rim is 5 inches. To create a -31mm offset on this rim, the backspacing would have to be 3.78 inches, not 4 1/4" as stated.
Smiller says his 8" rim has backspace of 3 5/8" w/-20mm offset. By the formula, his offset should be 3/8", which is about what he measures in actuality, not the 3/4" that 20mm converts to.
I do not understand why the data you are reading says otherwise. Maybe the offset is measuring to the FRONT of the center hub, and taking into account different hub thicknesses? Any help, guys?
Wolfee, if you have the tires mounted on your original rims, and they clear the wheel opening to your satisfaction, then you need to find a rim with zero offset. Measure, observe, inspect and scrutinize the clearances you have at full lock in both directions and see how much you still have to avoid the frame, springs, fenders, etc.
Then you can determine the amount and direction, (pos or neg) of offset you can safely utilize.
I thought i was ready to order wheels...here is what I was looking at ordering tomorrow 16 X 10 wheels 4 1/4 BS with -33 offset I plan on mounting 315's on them and running a 4.5" lift... Do ya'll think i would having any rubbing issues..I have an aftermarket bumper/brushguard...
Those are the same size wheel i have in my garage right now. You should have a problom with a 4.5in lift i have some minor rubbing on mornal turns(hiting the inner mud flap in the wheelwell also when braking it would hit HARD if you had the wheel turned. Now i only have 2.5 in lift in the front but its a 350 so the rear is a 4in block dont know if the extra 2 in the rear makes a better angle to the front.who knows i know the truck sits about level right now. and this is when it was rubbing. if you have a 4.5 in lift it will probably have no probloms at all that extra 2 inches of hight would have probably made all the difference. i priced out a lift from fab tech and to do it right with shocks this and that it was like 2100 bucks so i just put the stockers back on even though the rim is 1 inch to narrow acording to good year. i will be getting new wheels if i can ever figure this out. i think i am just going to stop messing around and go to the shop here and have him tell me what will work if he says it will and then it doesnt well he will have to take them back haha..
