Fuel pressure gauge

i got a 1990 f150 4x4 w/ 302 efi. i believe that i have narrowed the problem i am having to the fuel system. wants to hestitate and jerk under acceleration.
can i put a fuel pressure gage in the fuel line so i can see what the fuel pressuer is doing when i accelerate, or is this not necessary? is there a better way to do the check?

You should do as much testing as possible with the hood up sitting in the driveway. If you really want to see what your pressure is, I would use an electric sender type gauge.

There are gauges that you can get that will screw into the schraeder valve on the fuel injection rail so that you can test the fuel pressure. Most fuel injection cleaning kits from 3M have them as part of the kit but you can buy them separately as well.

If you get an electrical gauge, the nice thing is you can test under load. Though for a 1990 it should not make much difference sitting in the driveway or driving when hitting the throttle.
