Need Battery Recommendation - 99 Expy

I have to replace the battery in our 99 Expedition. Any suggestions on Brand, Where To Buy, etc? I was looking for something like a Gel type if they make them.

Thanks in advance for any help.

optima red top, 800 CCA. Your local autozone will have it for around $120. A little steep, but its is by far the best battery you can put in your ride. You will actual notice the difference when you start your car and use accessories. You can also leave your headlights on for a hell of a long time, and it will still start

Today I just bought an autozone battery for 55 bucks. Its a quickstart with the red label. To me 55 bucks is better than 120.00 just my thought.

later

If you care enough to ask, you probably care enough to buy a good battery. I second the vote for the Optima Red Top. I recommend checking out their web site to help you make your decision.

Yes, I just recently installed one on my 2000 Expy. I need a battery that just works, regardless of how cold it is or how long I've been using an accessory with the truck not running, and this seems to fit the bill.

I guess the Optima is the way to go especially if you have a big sound system, etc.

Optima has a 3 year Free replacement warranty!!! No pro-rated crap like other batteries. I have an Optima in every vehicle and they are well worth the extra dough!

FYI, The $55 red top, has a 2 year free replacement/7 year prorated warrantee. It's still more powerful tha stock (just replaced the original in my 99 two weeks ago). It's all about what you want to spend now and later.

I picked up the Optima, but one problem...

I can't clamp it into the battery tray. The Optima is much smaller than the factory Motorcraft battery. The autozone guy says they're all the same size (universal).

How did all of you get around this?

I vote for the Optima red top also. I use them in both trucks and at work in the emergency generator.

developer, the battery should have came with an install kit (couple pieces of plastic) so it would bolt down for you...just go back and ask for it. I buy mine from Sam's club and I noticed that sometimes they are missing the little bag of plastic adapters. I just pick a battery that has them on it. Since they are only needed on a couple of sizes, its probably people getting them that don't actually need them but thinking they are missing something, that grab them.

Thanks. Yup - the two red bracket adapters. Take one off and slide it on the bottom of the battery. Got it. Installed it. No more alternator whine - starts perfectly and it could be my imagination, but I think it runs better.

Thanks again!

Smile Wal Mart Battery

Ive got an '01 and just replaced with the Wal Mart brand, (yellow cover). They have every size that fits in with no need for modification and 3 yr no questions asked replacement if needed. I figure there's always a Wal Mart close wherever I might drive, and free installation. Was $65 with all the taxes and environmental fees. Works Great.
