I have a 99 Expy. I reset the OBDII codes as I was having problems with my O2 sensor... I replaced the O2 sensor and no DTC codes are appearing. Now I am trying to get the "Monitor" or "I/M Ready" status reset by performing a "Drive Cycle." All the monitors have reset/passed the I/M status test except the "EV" or evaportative system monitor... I can't seem to get it to perform the test. I have driven two cold starts (8 hours prior without driving and outside temperature was ~50 degrees F)... 1 for 20 minutes freeway and 20 minutes city strrets. Another was ~30 minutes freeway with no stop or go at all. Are there any tricks to this? Any suggestions on what I should do to complete this test?
3 drive cycles are required. Engine must cool to (I think) 85* or less between drives and must acheive 160* during the drive. I can find out the right numbers for you but not until tomorrow. (By the time you read this, you will probably have ocmpleted three cycles.)
I have attempted to complete several drive cycles. I wake up at 5 am so the engine has sat for at least 8 hours and also so traffic is reasonable to perform all the tests. My wife drives the car during the day and the next morning I begin again at 5 am. When you say 3 cycles, do they need to be conseccutive, with no driving in between??
