well the only problem with that is i'm not a deisel mechanic and all suggestions that i have gotten i did and truck still gets worse to the point it cant be driven
well truck is deAD NOW SMOKES ALL THE TIME NOW SKIPPS AND LOUNGES no power and feels like running off less than 8 cylinders taking to ford if it makes it to dealer tonite
Have the wiring harness checked at the valve covers, check the fuel filter also. If one of the valve cover gaskets/wiring harnesses is bad then the truck is running on 4 cylinders.

i checked the oil today before i cranked it and it was up to normal full mark last time i drove it i checked oil it was about one quart low i didnt add ant oil to it do you think fuel is now starting to get in the oil ?
Did you chekc the oil hot the first time, and then cold the next??? that could account for the variance.
I second Cookie and Kwik's responces on the injector O-ring failure. the lack of oil use is kinda odd, but the O-ring would explain the loud, poor idle and performance caused by the lack of oil for the injectors, and all the smoke.
Now if you are gunna bring it to a Ford Stealership remember, this is YOUR truck not theres, you decide what gets fixed and replaced BEFORE the work is done, if you do decide to replace the injectors, might as well get some performance aftermarket injector, just as cheap, if not cheaper then a set of injector from the dealer, if you buy them off the net and have them pull your old ones and put in the new ones, plus they will pep up the truck for pulling that gooseneck around. but I still say injector O-rings. there cheap, like $70 bucks for all 8 i believe. and its a do it yourself saturday fun job.
So $70 bucks or an easy grand from the stealership.....
well, to quickordead and all those who tried to help me with this problem truck i thank you for your support. no the not so goods news took the truck to ford last nite and the checked out everything and everything checked godd except for one thing ready for this i wasn't
compressoin test show #5 cylinder down from mid 300's down to 160 ford said engine had sucked dirt and needed to be replaced and i've had the truck less than 3months and drove it less than 1800 miles and now the truck needs a new engine so now i'm really stuck like chuck so anyway thanks for all the responses to my problem and hope no one else has to hear that your truck needs an 11000.00 engine think i go buy a new dodge
Cowboy have you check with Internatonal somewhere about overhaul? It is a lined engine maybe just a liner, piston and rings. You might be able to do just #5. Lots of repaiur options out there. Anyway should be less than 11,000.
Hey Cowboy - any engine could get hosed for one reason or another. Don't give up on the fords - good truck. I know a couple of guys who bought Dodge trucks and had quite a few problems with them. I'm sorry about your unfortunate situation. Wish you the best of luck.
If dirt got into the engine, sounds like lack of maintenance by your previous owner, ie: air filter.
Personally, I'd take the truck to a local diesel mechanic shop, and see what they say. Maybe they'll agree that the engine is shot. The dealerships usually have a tendancy to make problems worse than they really are, so they can get you to spend $11k on a new engine.
I wouldn't give up on the Fords. I feel bad you had a bad experience with this one. I've had my '99 350 for over a year and it's been an awesome truck for me. Good luck with what you do.
ok to answer all ya'lls questions no the psd is not sleeved from the factory and also talked to a psd mechanic not from ford but has own shop and two psd's
one slightly stock one with about every mod you could think about including
propane and he said what for did was right and he agreed with what they sais and said to due it right would run me at least 10000.00 with new turbo said wouldn't want to fix one cylinder cause it would not last and if had to bore out just one cylinder and replace piston rings and rod that truck would probably run hot on that cylinder under a heavy load and engine wouldn't hold up said would have to start out with a good block and said jasper was the only one that would not put an engine back together whith diffrent size pistons in it and would run about 8500.00 just for long block then add in new turbo cause the old one was blasted then add in labor and your at 10000.00 wow dodge dealer where i bought it said would take truck back in on trade and give me what i got in it on a new dodge ford said they would only give me 10000.00 for it like it sits so the only way to get out of they truck and get it totaly paid off with out adding additional cost to another truck is to deal with where i bought it at and thats the dodge place so.....another one bites the dust huh
That's one long sentence, punctuation makes it a lot easier to read.
Sorry to hear you're losing out on your truck. Hopefully your next one will treat you better, be it a Dodge or Ford.
