Ok, after doing alot of thinking, planning and changing my mind many times I think I have my engine planned out.
I want this to be a street/strip torque monster.
1967 F100 custom cab long bed.
-78 351W engine (already in truck)
-393 stroker crank
-stock 351 rods
-302 fordged pistons for 9.5:1 compression ratio
-stock heads ported and polished
-1.7 ratio roller rockers
-mildly agressive camshaft (unsure which one yet)
-4bbl intake manafold and carb (unsure which ones yet)
-long tube headers
-125-150 hp Nitrous oxide setup (for fun at the track)
What I need is advice on what manafold/ cam/ carb combo would be best for my application? And will the engine be able to handle the nitrous setup?
Intake performer rpm or weiand stealth either one should give you low end and take you pretty far into the rpm. I wouldn't worry about getting the 1.7 rockers the 1.6 will do just fine given the cam you select will have final lift and duration figured with the 1.6's. I like edelbrock carbs however demon has a good thing going with their line and their prices are competetive, holley would be another choice. You have some room for personal adventure here as any of the components menitoned are similar and will generate similar results. When you figure final gear ratio/ tranny/ and cam combo other than cam then give the cam manufactuerer of your choice a call and have them recommend something, don't try and pick it yourself you will end up with what you want just not what you need. (hear good things about comp cam here and from a local builder) When you select a carb also get a recommendation from the company as well you could figure it up using a formula then again you may not end up with what you need, worth getting their recommendation. (hear a lot of good things about demon lately), You should be able to handle the 100-150 shot if the engine was build properly and the nitros is used as intended. Good luck hope this helps some
