I have a 1975 Ranger F100 4x4 with the ram assist power steering (if you want to call it that). I would like to convert over to the real power steering option and was wondering, does the donor truck need to be a f250 4x4 or F150 4x4 or will 2 wheel drive work? Also, is the 77-79 years the typical donor truck years to use? Also, can I use the tech article as my guide or is a conversion to 1/2 ton different than 3/4 ton? Thanks for any info given.
I fotgot about that article. I have since printed off. I have located a 1978 1/2 4x4 at the wrecking yard. They said they will give me all the items I need for $300. I think that is a pretty good price. Am I wrong? Also, on the tech article about the conversion on the F150, it mentions getting the steering boxed reworked for it to function correctly on the truck. It will turn left when you turn right. Why is that? Thanks for all the help.
