Hey Ivan....

I asked this question a while ago, but it was within another post. I Was wondering if you ever tied the front drop hanger on your truck the the crossmember? I am pretty much done with mine, just waiting for some better weather. I was wondering how you did that (tie it into the crossmember), and if you think that it is absolutely neccesary. thanks

Funny you should ask. I have not tied it in yet. I've been messing around with the hangers off and on trying to get everything tweaked and set just the way I like it. Everytime I think it's done I look at the truck again and decide it's too small and I add a bit more. I put extensions on the hangers a week or two ago and was pretty happy with it at 16" so I decided to build a new bling set of hangers for the truck. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to go ahead and do 2 more inches and make Pro's woman go postal. In any event I should have it wrapped up in about 2 weeks. I have a PS cooler on that X-member that has to go before I can tie a support into it. But I've also decided to use 2x4 (steel that is ) and run a 45* brace from the hanger up to the frame rail. I didn't need it originally but now that I've added another 5" to that hanger there's a lot of extra leverage on it. I doubt it would be so critical if I welded the hanger to the frame but since it's bolted I want extra support.

Then again I may just get drunk and weld it afterall. I'll post up some pics of the supports when the new hangers are done.

Ok so I see what you mean with the 2x4 tubing. You mean that from the hanger you made, you are going to extend back at a 45* angle and connect that to the frame behind the hanger. Also I was wondering about your crossover setup, what did you do with the stock arm on the drivers side? did you just leave it there, or cut it down, or what? thanks again.

That's exactly what I'm doing. It'll come back about 8" on the frame.

haha i like your answer for the arm. So then your not going to tie the hanger to the crossmember at all, and just the frame behind it right. Can't wait for some pics to see how the new setup is. thanks again.

Its not neccesary, but I prefer to. In my case its mandatory because its incorporated into my front hitch.

My hitch will be tied into the crossmember as well but I can't do that until I get my new PS junk in there and move that cooler.

The rear shock mounts are on the bump stop ears on the lift blocks. This is only temporary as I'm still using the stock shocks while I get everything situated. The frame extensions on the rear springs gave me about 4" of lift. I'll install frame extensions on the backs soon here for a couple more inches. The front sits at 16" now but I'm thinking I may go for 18" total.
