Won't Start
80 F-150, I was warming up the truck this morning and it stopped running. I tried to restart it but it would crank over good but not start. I noticed that a black wire was just hanging off of the distributor so after it seemed like forever I figured out it went to the ignition coil. I got it wired up and it still will not start. It ran fine before and the only thing different was the unattached wire. Please help.

Is it getting fuel? When my fuel pump went out on me I had the truck idleing on a job site and when I came back it wasn't running. No start after that.
When you turn the key to the on position (not start) do you hear the pump prime?

Thanks for the response. I figured it out though. The previous owner put in a points distributor so I replaced the points and condensor and it fired right up. It's a little simpler the way it is now but I also figured out that the neutral safety switch is no longer there so the engine will turn over without pushing in the clutch. Frankenstein is what the guy at the parts store called it!
