U-joint at front wheels

1979 4wd short bed. The u-joint at the end of the front drive shaft to wheel connections seems to be broken. What is the u-joint at the end of the front shaft to wheel connection called and how do you replace it? Any help would be great.

yank the wheel, the 4x4 hub, then you'll need the special socket for the nut...take off the caliper, pull off the bearing hub and brake rotor, take off the 11/16 nuts that hold the spindle, beat the daylights outta the spindle and caliper mount. When ya; get'em off pull out the drive shaft, now the fun begins! Actually there is a dandy article on how to replace one in the tech articles!!

its not hard to replace the ujoint when its not broken but now you might have ruined the axle itself.
look for oblong holes in it. it takes about an hour or so to change one.
