Just so you are not ignored here, I checked the Ford service manual and while there are all kinds of specs for driveshaft angle, deviation, etc, etc, unfortunately there is no spec for the length you need. Sorry.
I measured up an aluminum driveshaft in a 4X2 Aerostar to use in my race car and I seem to recall that it was 55 inches from center of u-joint to center of u-joint.

That's just the info. I was looking for. I am thinking of the same thing for my Lincoln Mark VII...replacing my stock shaft with an aluminum one. My stock shaft measures 53 1/4" center to center, which should make the Aerostar shaft easily modified to fit my application.
I have a 94 that came with a steel drive shaft, but that was replaced with the aluminum after the recall on the drive train affecting the tranfer case and drive shaft.
