Thanks Krewat
Thank you Krewat for your advice back in 2008. My steering would jump to the left, then to the right, and then would settle down for days. You said jack up the front end and see what happens. I thought it might be a spool valve, but a sticking u-joint showed up. Pointing straight ahead the u-joints looked good but as soon as you turned the wheel the driver's side stuck. Disconnecting the tie rod end and moving the hub by hand, with the axle shaft in the right position I could see why the steering would jump from one side to the other. Because of your advice I learned something new, that u-joints have to be fully free or they will affect the steering, even in two wheel drive with the hubs unlocked. Thanks again.

Long time ago , someone (possibly William Shakespeare) said " Better three hours too soon than one minute too late " or , may be "better late than never " in short .
I too enjoyed Krewat's wisdom and diagnostic approach over the years I have been following this forum. But , where is Krewat ? that is the question .
