While cleaning up my front differential I see some raised marks, in the shape of a clock. There are 2 such circles, side by side, with one having 8 bumps and one having 7 bumps. I'm thinking it's something to do with date of manufacture but how do you read it?

yea it has to do with date and shift part was poured into mold. That way they can track batch pours for metal testing.
