i have a 1990 f450 with 7.3...at rockauto.com it says i need 4 cables...totals 142.16...are these the correct part numbers and is there any cheaper place?
What you're looking at for your truck is 2 ground cables, a LH and a RH and the positive, which is one piece, connecting both batts to the starter. The listing you gave is for the ground cables, 2 different grades.
Check NAPA, they should be about $100.00 for everything.
Dave
Make them out of 2/0 welding cable. It is 600 volt and costs about $2.00 a foot. Then crimp them yourself with new ends. It was under $20 for my positive cable.
NAPA makes the wires to fit your truck.
The correct wire size is 2/0 between the two batteries
And 3/0 from the passenger side battery to the starter.
You should also have a #4 wire added to the passenger side terminal to replace the wire that goes back to the inner fender starter solenoid or inner fender well glow plug relay depending on the year of your truck. That is the main electrical connection point for everything but the starter.
The one I am refering to is the smaller red wire above the battery in Ditto's top picture.
I would also add a #6 wire to each negative terminal and ground it to the body on both batteries.
