cup holders
does anyone have any idea what ford was thinking when they installed the giant cup holder in the escape?
i have to stuff napkins in to hold my coffee cup steady.
holds a big mc donalds cup prety good though.
any clever "fixes" out there?

I guess I like big cups, mine is just the right size for a 32oz diet coke with ice. I've got a rental car right now, Escape is wrecked. A Merc Sable that has the size you want because they're too small for me. The should offer something similar to what I saw in a 2005 Tribute this weekend - a plastic insert that will fit the smaller cup sizes.
If you've got a 2005 Escape, the Tribby inserts should fit since they have the same redesigned console.

I have an 05 Escape and it came with the small cup insert...
Edit: Crap, I just went and looked at it... I think it is an ashtray... (My wife never lets me drive the damn thing!)

I bought at 05 model last night (02 was totaled). Yep, it has removable cup inserts.
I noticed the 05 has an "optional" warning light for "dangerous gas". I hope that's related to the hybrid and not something else...
