A Bronco that I'm going to buy has a problem with the AC, it just spits out heat. I figure it's cause the insulation on the AC hose is cracked and broken. Could this be the problem or is it something else? If it is how much is it to replace the insulation and where can I get some? I can't find any
Hello, are you saying that when you turn on the A/C that it blows hot air? If that is so then it has nothing to do with the insulation. You either have a compressor that is not turning on or no freon in the system or a problem with the vacuum ducts under dash. Let me know about it and I can advise you better.
Yeah it only blows out hot air. Thats about all I can say since #1 I don't own the truck yet but will in a week and #2 On a scale of 1 to 10 in car literacy I'm about a 6 or a 7.
Windows are fine by me but I'm just curious cause AC would be nice on occasion.
Well, if it only blows hot air then it is like I said in the above post. Low or no freon, bad vacuum to a door under dash, or compressor not kicking in. Let me know if you need help identifying parts and we can follow it through.
Definetly need some help identifying some of those things. I dunno what they are or what they do. I have an idea what a compressor is but the others I draw a blank
First of all, put the A/C on. Go out and look under the hood. You should be able to identify the A/C compressor as the belt will be on it and it will have a wire connector attached to it. Also 2 high pressure lines will be attached to it. Have a look and see if it is rotating the clutch which is the outside part of the compressor. If it is turning than you are either very low in freon or your air ducts are not opening properly.
A/C can be hard to diagnose if you do not know what to look for. It can even be as simple as a fuse too. First check out the compressor operation and get back to us.
