Using just the axle tag, how do I identify a 10.25 Sterling rear end with TracLoc? It'd be great to be able to look at a tag and know. Thanks for any info y'all can provide!
Thanks RC!! This axle is listed on ebay and located in Kansas City. The guy has been pretty upfront about what he has; could be simply mistaken and clueless. I had planned on heading up to get it while visiting my mom and dad in OKC. You saved me a LOT of time and $$$.
Aftermarket was a definite possibility. The acid test would have been to ask the guy to spin one hub and observe which way the other hub turns. Same direction - TracLoc, different directions - regular open differential. Oh, well. Whoever bought it got a got deal. The final bid for the complete axle assembly and driveshaft was $9.95. IF I had truly needed a replacement rear axle, ten bucks and a ten hour drive would have been a good investment!
