IM new to the forum and new to a powerstroke, I have a 97 powerstroke that when i put a load like going up a hill makes a wooomnn noise at about 1900 rpms no mater if its in drive or overdrive any suggestions appreciated thats the only time it makes the noise thanks shawn
It might also be your turbo starting to sing to you. Does the sound get louder and higher pitched as you exceed 1900rpm?
If you've still got a stock airbox, it might be your turbo gasping for air.
It just does it at that rpm and only when im climbing a hill or on the gas real hard thanks for the replys, it didnt seem to do it today I hadnt drove it for two days .

Yeah, change out the stock air filter for a NAPA 6637.
Then you'll hear that stuttering turbo stall really well.
Then you'll put in the Wicked Wheel to cure that.
Oh and then you'll need to put in a big exhaust to get rid of all that nice new air that the engine is breathing.
Hmmm, need more power.
Ok, buy gauges and install
(Wife beginning to frown)
Get Baby Swamp injectors and a chip.
Ford issued a Tech Bulletin of the 1900 rpm moan in 96. At that time there was no solution, just that engineering was looking into it. I don't know if there was ever a fix for existing PSD's.

If the truck is a 97 he wouldn't need the Wicked Wheel would he? I thought that there was no turbo surge with the 95-97 psd's. Am I wrong? I don't notice any with my 97.

Oh yeah you're right. I was mostly trying to make a joke anyway.
