so how many of you use ebay for your effie? so far ive gotten a 32 gallon fuel cell, 4link for the rear, and slicks.... usually saving me 50% or more than if i got them new.... its amazing how much ebay has changed the hot rod world.
I myself stay away from Ebay.. I been rip off big time there and ended up with no recourse.. $800 right down the drain.. I was trying to get a trannie and ended up with a crate with large rock in it.. So I stay away from it...

ouch... Ive had that happen before then i won a fiender for a CRX... paid for it, never showed. all you can do is report and wait for the best, but that money was made back in the many other things ive gotten there and saved from having to get it new
There is recourse on e-bay. Negative feedback can be a powerful tool . THis can "shut him down" very well.
You got his address, did you try contacting ebay or the local athorities?
I've had pretty good luck, only got burnt once for $20.00 , so I count myself lucky. You can use the feedback, there's the "Safe Harbor" area for mediation and you can request his listed contact info. I've used it all with success except for the 2 hubcaps I never got for my $20 . THis is also concidered mail fraud by the government and you can contact local law enforcement in the town the people live in and lodge a formal complaint.
I've had about 200 truck related transactions. Has allowed me to upgrade parts I would have had to just live with otherwise. Never had a serious problem yet, but I am very careful when the transactions go over a hundred bucks. And if the item is something you would be afraid to buy used locally, be very afraid when the transaction is over the internet.
I've bought many things on Ebay and have only been burned once. If I had been smart enough to check the guys feedback before I bought I could have avoided this. LESSON LEARNED!
I successfully bid on one item - set of Mustang shorty headers. Good price, parts as advertised, seller was good to deal with and it went fine. Got my injectors through a guy that operates on Ebay, but it wasn't an Ebay transaction - very pleased with that transaction as well.

Tryed, found out he did this to some 500+ people at the same time and then dissapered into the four winds.. The Address he used was a forwarded one.. Even the mailing address was forwarded to Mexico some where.. This guy was out to rip people off.. And he did a good job at it...

MAD,
Not only do I like good feedback, but I also like to see someone who has been selling for a couple years. It seems dishonest people are usually unable to conduct themselves honestly for very long. That said, I routinely buy from new ebayers, but only low buck stuff. And I will click and read feedback for risky purchases. 96% positive rating is not good enough if he ripped off two people last week. I might be #3.
And I'm not commenting on your intelligence. Most all of us have been ripped off before. Honest people have to be cheated before they can comprehend the dishonestly in this world. I got my lesson from a guy right down the street. Bought a used engine from him on the garage floor. And it was a good engine. I paid for it and went back to pick it up a couple weeks later after a Army training exercise. He immediately re-installed it in a hot rod, and witnesses told me he beat it hard until it blew up.
The sad parts is I have been on a shoe string budget for a while now.. I saved up for a few months to find the tranny and to get riped off.. So now I ust buy Local, or from companys I had many dealing withs... The way I look at it now.. Is money dont leave one hand unless parts are in the other..
The problem with ebay is you have to read the description very closely, and email with questions. I've heard several people getting burned badly, or paying for an item and not receiving the item. Some people don't care about negative feedback. If there is an item they want, they bid on it. I've also noticed that some items which are in good shape or in demand, have people bidding more than what you could order one over a website for. Ebay is OK for certain stuff, some items also sound cheap, but remember your also paying for shipping costs, which aren't cheap. There are times when ebay is good. If I use ebay, I look for 100% positive feedback. That tells me that even if the item was junk, the seller made good on the transaction. Even manufacturers are on ebay now like mid fifties, etc. They are selling items that have defects in workmanship or items which were returned, and those items are being bid to nearly the same price as a good part. Those companies are laughing!
I think selling items on ebay is better than buying now. I sold a Dual throat Dell Orto Carb manifold for a Harley Davidson (use to build em). I expected to get $100 for it because it was powder coated candy red and had several chip in the paint. The manifold bid for $425.00. I was over jazzed!! The poor guy who bid on it could of bought a new one in chrome for about $175.00 and there were about 10 different people bidding on the item.
yea ive learned learned to take my time before i bid.. check the feed back, see if i can find the item new elsewhere and so on.. in the case of the fuel cell i paid $101, would of cost me $300.. and the one i got also came with an electric fuel pump... saved me more then too.. just remeber to take your time.
