59 F100 paint
After two years of trying to buy a 1959 F-100 4 x 4, the owner has agreed to sell. I am in heaven. Came across your web site yesterday and was impressed. I think your knowlegeable members will be a great help in my restoration project.
First question to your membership; I can remember the 59 ford pickups of my youth painted two tone. What combinations were available and where would I locate the paint codes.
Regards
Grouse

If the truck was a custom cab model, then two paint was an option. If you'd like to know what color your truck was originally, open the glove box and read the color code off the vin tag.
Most paint shops can match paint just by the name, I have a few of the color codes for the paint if you need to buy paint.
Also, by chance you were just asking to see what color options were available back then, then a paint chip book(look on ebay under 59 ford truck or 1959 ford truck etc) should help you out. Welcome to the site by the way!! -4speed

59 paint
My truck is a custom cab, however has been repainted to a dark blue. Paint code shows it was originally Wedgewood blue /Colonial white which are the colours I am considering for re-paint.
Many Ford trucks ago I owned a 65 Mercury Custom Cab which was painted two tone. It was white and turquoise? I really liked that colour and would prefer to paint the 59 the same colours if offered that year. The big problem I am facing is that there appears to a multitude of turquoise variants used by Ford.

D.............Indian Turquoise.............M20J-1019
E.............Colonial White................M20J-524
G.............April Green....................M20J-1014

"Indian Turquoise" was the only turquoise available on the '59 F-series.
'59 Two-Tone Paint schemes consisted of Colonial white, combined with any one of the standard colors listed above. Colonial white was applied above the body crease line, except for the very top of the roof, and around the rear window.
I hope this helps.

Paint Colors 57-60 Fords
Memo to Grouse,
I see someone posted the paint codes for these years. The codes are on the VIN tag, of course.
I was recently surprised at a local paint store to find they still had paint chip books for 1958 through 1960 ford trucks. My truck is a 59 in Red and the colonial white ...... however, I have been looking and looking at various red and white combinations, not necessarily the factory colors. You might want to check out local automotive paint stores - and don't be afraid to ask. During my last visit there, I asked about a 55 - 57 chevy paint color (No you guys, not for a painting a chevy), and the store owner told me that, although he didn't have the color chips anymore, he knew someone in the local car club who did, and gave me their phone number. However, to see what the colors really looked like, look inside the glove box, or somewhere else that is relatively protected from fading and repainting. I don't know about other people, but I can't get a good idea of paint colors from a paint chip thats less than 1/2" tall and an inch across.
One useful tool for E-bay here ..... I search for 57 - 60 ford trucks on e-bay, and when I come across a nicely painted one, or one with details I want to remember, just copy the picture off the e-bay site into your computer. I have a pretty nice collection of truck pictures this way.

I have no useful information about paint but just wanted to say "Welcome"!
Even more so, I have to say I admire your determination of staying the course for two years to get the guy to sell his truck! I've been hounding this poor guy for a year now and I was thinking it's time to give up the chase. Before he has to get a restraining order.
Anyway... Congratulations!!

John,
Although my truck is a '60, I believe my color to be Indian Turquoise (check my gallery). I've looked at the '60 color chips and I don't believe they match my truck as well. Although my two girls hate the color, I too remember it from my youth and wanted one myself.
My truck is also a Custom Cab, but was painted one color (will be two-toned when I am done) and it came to me with the painted bumper which I will have to chrome. I also have two tone inside the cab. Best of luck with it.
