BTW- Good luck with mounting that in a scout last time I looked International did'nt use motor mounts in the traditional sense. Two "mounts" at the bottom of the bellhousing and a plate at the front of the motor between radiator and front cover/timing shroud. If you decide to "rig it" definitely don't use the windsor. Timing covers are known for cracking in normal vehicles. Just my 2cents.
if you want to run a 335 series engine use the 351c same bore and stroke as the 351m or the W for that matter but uses the small block bellhousing, and the windsor motor mounts but I feel the heads (even the 2v heads) will outperform even most of the aftermarket windsor heads (barring all out race heads)
between the 351m and the 400 u wont see much difference if any under normall driving. the 400 has more touque so u dont have to be into it as much to get it going which makes up for the extra 49 inches
hey Eric I think terry parker was making a funnel web for that conversion at one time, and may still be doing it, but I think he is the only one since B&A went out of business. although I heard someone else was supposed to be starting that back up.
I do not think I want any more than a 351. This will be a daily driver and the 400 will make too much hp for a light scout, It has a 289 i it right now which fits in there perfect I think a 351 will be a tight fit. A scout weighs 2800 lbs stock I think that with 300 or more hP it will be like a dragster. I just want in the 200 hp range 200-250hp which I consider fast. HTe fastest thing I have ever driven is a '05 F-150 5.4L and I did not get to open it up, I liked how that thing really moved when I just touched the gas. I think when you have to floor it to make power you burn more gas then when it is fast at lower revs.
I would probably cam a 351 up to 4500 rpm max and run a 450 Holly and mabe headers.
Why not put a a good 302 in it? The weight would be less than the 351W and can be built to run well. Of course the 351W can be made to run well also. A mustang roller engine(cam) would be a nice block to stert with.
