Engine swap 351w to 351HO

Hi there Ford fanatics.I have followed this forum for some time and have got some really helpful ideas from many of you.
I have a 1982 F150 extended cab with a 351w.Edelbrock intake and carb.I also have bad blowby, low low oil pressure at idle and a pretty bad bottom end knock...all spells engine rebuild or replacement.
My question is will a 351HO bolt up in place of the 351w.Are the accessory brackets and oil pan the same.Does it use same radiator, and will it take the edelbrock intake.
Finally, performance wise,is the 351HO an improvement on the 351w.I use the truck as a daily driver and pull a horse trailer on weekends.
I appreciate any help you can offer, thanks in advance.

Engine swap 351w to 351HO

The 351 H.O. IS a 351 windsor block, so It will bolt up to the body and tranny exactly the same. The 351 H.0. was a factory option from mid 1984 until 87 methinks. It included a stock 4-barrel holley carb, a hotter cam, and factory dual exhaust. I have an edelbrock intake on it just fine, just remember, its just a windsor block, there is no difference in it whatsoever block wise from any other windsor, so anything taht will bolt to a Windsor will bolt to the H.0.

Engine swap 351w to 351HO

Hey bud! I did this exact swap on my 85 Crewcab, pulling the 5.8L 2 bbl engine & installing an (according to the rebuilder) 85 5.8 HO. The Offy intake I had on the earlier engine fit right on, no problem. The exhaust bolted up as well. (I tried to put mustang headers on, but the driver side exits right at the clutch hydraulic line, so I stuck with the manifolds). The truck had plenty of power after, but in the wrong RPM range for me. In a two wheel drive truck, the HO engine would be great as is, but I do tow a car trailer now & then, so I wanted the power to come in a bit lower. After the warranty was up, I swapped the cam for a Comp Cams extreme energy XE250H-10, part # 35-230-3. .460 lift intake & .474 ex. Duration is 206 I & 212 E at .050. This is not a big cam, but it generates peak power at highway speed (around 2500). It revs to 5000 & makes great pulling & passing power. Even in the heavy crewcab 4x4, with winch & jockey box full of chains & tools etc, I never have to gear down to pass & I consistantly get over 400 km (approx 250 miles) to one tank of fuel (7o liters). This is using an edelbrock 600 cfm carb. Electric model, with 10 minutes of tuning to change the step up spring to the same one that comes in the manual choke version.
Anyway, the engine went right in.
Just a side note, I had very short clutch life, not due to abuse or installation trouble, but because my flywheel had been turned too often. Use a shim if you resuface, or get a new flywheel.
Also, check crankshaft endplay before & after installing the engine. It should be the same. Good luck!! I hope this helps!

Are you sure on the dual exhaust? I just bought my Bronco w/ a 5.8 HO in it and it has stock single.

Engine swap 351w to 351HO

Im not positive, all I know is that my 84 F-150 with the H.O. had stock dual exhaust. Its been switched over to a single exhaust by some duff, but the workings for the dual are still on the truck, including the mount for the tailpipe. So, Im not sure, I just know it was on my truck, and I have heard other people on this board say that it was what came with the stock 5.8 HO. But you never know
