ais or afe
I am thinking about changing my stock air cleaning system. I have read a bunch about afe and ais. Totally confused. Which one is best for stock 03 auto crew cab 4x4 psd. Mainly street and highway miles. I pull a 7,000 lb fifth wheel. Help!!!!

Yup, first thing I did too. Diesel's need to breathe, next exhaust. I took some great advice and pulled the stock air filter box and installed a big honkin' cylindrical air filter I bought for 27 bucks at NAPA, part # 6637. A lot of folks have gone this route instead of investing the big bux. The filter fits (with patience and elbow grease) onto the stock intake boot. Just recently there was a thread about this, and Kwikordead (sp?) made a dig. photo that helped me a lot. Sure feel a difference with this economical mod. Saving pennies for the next one!

Using the napa filter is a good and cheap way to go. (I'm not knocking it cause I got the tymar intake which is the same thing!) But I would consider the Ford AIS system. Since its a ford part you would'nt have any warrenty issues if you take it to the dealership. It flows PLENTY of air and is a great filter. The only drawback is the price!
