1972 shop manual

Where can I get a factory/shop manual (Ford manual, not one of the after market almost a manual, manuals) for a 1972 F250 pickup?

Thanks

There are factory service manuals on cd, available from Motorhaven, use the parts shop link at the top of the page.

I know what you mean about the cd version. I ordered one for my 72 Ford truck (paper) and I was somewhat dissapointed because there is so much stuff included in the manual for the Heavy duty trucks that the information on light duty is limited. But that is how they come out back then. You can look on e-bay under ford f-100. I found manuals available at a good price. But there is a place that will print you a copy of the original manual but I can't remember who right now. If you would like, I'll scratch around at home and see if I can find the name of the place. I would try e-bay first.

Helm printed the original manuals, they may have reprints or originals avialable, but they are expensive, upwards of $80+ per book.

I have both - the cd and the paper version. I like the paper better, but it is nice to print out the step by step instructions off the cd, use them once, and then throw them away. That way you don't care if they get greesy or dirty.

I bought the paper set through ebay used for $30.

Where did you get the CD version? I may go with a CD version and look for the paper or wait for one to pop up on Ebay. Are the drawings and pictures good quality on the CD and when you print them?

Thanks

My cd set is one of the originals and is a scanned in picture of the original book. The images do not reproduce well.

I know one of the sponsers of this website sells a cd - which may be better. His is an authorized set which may mean something better. I will let someone who has used his make a recomendation.

I have a set coming this week, they came with my new 72 F-100. I'll copy what you need when I get them if you want. (waiting on the original owner to drop them off)

The original paper versions are somewhat rare. One weekend I got onto eBay and there was nothing and then a guy in this forum says he won an auction that same weekend and got the entire set for $13. I've only found one other set since then, and it's been about 8 months, and it cost me $50. It was some guy who somehow buys and sells old shop manuals. The website is www.factoryautomanuals.com. I was lucky enought that he had just picked up a set. But honestly they're not very in depth. When you buy the shop manual for the model year you get everything for every ford truck made. Up to the F700. I bought them because I needed the wiring diagram but there isn't one in there. I got the wiring diagram from my mechanic. He had purchased some $300 set of CDs that had shop manual type of info on them and he had the wiring diagram. He was nice enought to print them off for me.

same book?

I drive a '72, but somewhere back when I found a manual for a '69. I dont see much difference in the spec's and info between them. What would be different as far as capacities, motor info, etc? Somebody want to trade?

I think the most telling line in the auction is

"This is a REPRODUCTION of the original factory Ford Truck Shop or Service Manual"

If you are going to buy a copy (probably illegal or unauthorized at that) you are better off just buying the CD from Motorhaven and printing it out. At least you get the electrical section which is what you need the most!

Plus, you can reprint sections when ever they get messed up.
