What's the average price for a private party used 01/02 7.3 Lariat 4x4 Auto?
I'm in California, and most of the owners think their trucks are worthed $32k.
I'd say they are out of their stinking mind.
Just because they were dumb enough to pay MSRP plus fees, they think they can turn around and expect to lose only $10k-$12k in the used market.
Am I wrong in thinking this way?
For a F-250 2001/02 7.3 Auto Crew 4x4 Lariat with 65,000 miles, I think it's worth $22k-$23k.
It's pretty much the same here in Maryland. It hardly makes it worthwhile to buy a used truck. In the past, you got a decent price break when you bought a used truck and the break was due to the risk taken on when buying used. The price break seems to have gone away but the risk hasn't.

I don't think you are going to find one for that price with less than 150-200,000 miles unless it has some major problems. The msrp on those trucks was $40000 and up with any kind of options. It's pretty easy to find a 01 or 02 here with decent mileage in the $26-28,000 range on a dealer lot.

Shop around, 10 months ago, I found a 2000 F250 4x4 CC LB loaded with a matching topper and 70,000 miles for $22,500. Everything else was $26,000+ for the same truck minus the topper. Bought it from private 1st owner and did a car fax to make sure.
I agree with Kilapapipa - Bought my '02 earlier this month w/74,000 miles (THOROUGHLY checked by a close friend who owns a performance shop) for 23,900. They're out there, keep looking. Now, you may have to do a little traveling...surf the net, it's a great shoppin' tool. Good luck!
bought my 01 4x4 auto. CC Long bed 305-70-16s on american racing wheels, alum.,
F-250 XLT Lariot, 159.000miles,maint. rec. 21,000 Very Very Grateful. They are around here in okla. California just seems to want more for their stuff+you get all their smog regs. to go with it. Look outside Calif. probably could find a better deal!

Assuming it's in decent shape, bring it up here, I'll buy it for the lot. A gas version of that truck is worth that kind of money on a wholesale basis. A PSD is about $6K more- and that's not on a retail level. Simply put, they're gold.
BTW- the west coast is the most expensive place in the country to buy one of these, but there's a good reason for that. R U S T
Texas/OK seem to be the cheapest prices, but I wouldn't consider bringing one of them in- too many potential issues, and their DMV's are too loose (that's a big deal- Ca/Or/Wa have some of the most pro-active AG's in the country- when you see one of their titles, and it's clean, you know it really is). I know dealers making a good living buying 'em out here and shipping them into the heartland (one of the many factors that keeps prices so high).

I paid $30k..2002 7.3l supercab 54k miles, lifted, 38in tires, leather interior it's too high I think, but I fell in love with it. sticker was $36K+
You could always check the N.A.D.A. book for values. http://www.nada.com/ . You can punch in whatever zip code you want and see what they are valued at at different locations. You could also use the Kelly blue book http://www.kbb.com/ but it seems like more dealerships tend to use the N.A.D.A..I have said it before and I'll say it again, if you want a decent price, be willing to travel! I've traveled from Broken Arrow, OK. to Boulder CO. to get mine 9 months ago and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
We bought a '99 PSD super cab xlt short bed with 67000 miles last year for $19k, we bought it from a Toyota dealer (used lot) about 75miles from here and took it to our local ford dealer asked the diesel mech to check it over , found that the air filter housing was cracked and that the drive shaft carrier bearing needed to be changed. Brought the bill to the toyota dealer he took care of the whole thing($523.00) . The truck had brand new ford batteries and Michelin tires. Sometimes things do work out for the best

Down here near New Orleans, it is mostly the same. Friend bought a late build 03 auto, latiat FX4 crew shortie 250. Had custom bumpers front and rear, brush guard in front and matching tool box. He said it cost him 30k. Not sure if that means tax or not.
I did some pricing on autotrader.com last week. I was surprised to see identical 02 250 ext cab XLT psd LB 2wd's going for 27k. Well maybe not going for that, but asking that.
I just bought my 02 PSD F250 Lariat 4x4 crew cab short box with all the extras including fiberglass cap which is coming off and getting sold and so is the bed liner but anyways it had only 54,000 miles old guy owned it traded it in on a 05 got if for $25,000.This thing you could eat off the seats, floors you name it.The leather seats dont show any signs of wear at all.Has telescoping mirrors, limited slip rear end, heated seats,6 disc cd,k&n airfilter, bug deflector and goes on and on....
