1965 F-100 Electrical Issues

1965 F-100 Electrical Issues
Lately I my normally reliable F-100 has developed a glitch in it's electrical system. It seems that when I come to a stop or slow the RPM's to below about 1700, the headlights and dashlights all dim to nearly invisible and the turn signals stop working. The dash indicator and the lights outside all stay on... but no blink. I am wondering if it is the alternator or maybe the voltage regulator? I know it's not a stray ground as everything works when the RPM's are up. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks for any help.

Sounds to me like an alternator....but if you have another regulator to borrow to check....I'd do that first....if thats not it, my guess is alternater. as to the grounds, are all nice and clean, etc ???

Thanks for the tips. I had the alternator checked and it was putting out less than 11 volts at idle. Way too low to be of any use. Now I know why I have been having battery problems of late. Too little juice to charge anything.
