I recently acquired a 81 Ford F-100 custom 6-cylinder that wasn't started for about 3 years. I pulled the tank, drained the gas and installed a new fuel pump and filter. The truck starts, but idles rough and when I rapidly depress the gas pedal the engine tries to stall. When I gradually depress the gas pedal it revs up fine. Also, when I drive it it'll run a little rough and once in a while will stall like it's out of gas, but it'll start right back up.
I'm thinking that these problems are caused by one thing, but not sure what it is. Anybody have an idea or have you experienced this before? Or is there anything more I should do since the truck wasn't started for so long?

If it sat that long, the carb needs to be rebuilt. It sounds like the carb has varnished fuel breaking loose and clogging ports in the carb. The bogging sounds like a gry rotted accelerator pump diaphram. I would change the fuel filter again too.
