Need help - gas mileage figures?
I'm shopping for a 2005 F-250 Supercab 4x4. I'm toying with the idea of ordering the V-10 with the 6-spd manual transmission. Does anybody have any experience with that engine/tranny combo, and know what I can expect for gas mileage? Also, any suggestions on the axle ratio that will get me the best gas mileage but still give me enough power for towing/plowing? Thanks.
Chris
The PSD is starting to sound like a better option, both for mileage and longevity. I commute 60+ miles a day, and plan on keeping the truck for at least 10 years. I'm hearing quotes of 16-20 mpg with the PSD, and a lot of people are saying "If you want to drive something into the ground, go diesel..."

HA HA HA When I see it I will believe it.I filled up my '05 V-10 6spd 4x4 4.30 LS drw platform dump today and I put 112 miles on the odo and 5.8 hours on the clock commuting and plowing. It took me 24.1 gallons to fill it up, yes that means 4.65 mpg
.I have only got 550 miles total on the ticker but I am definately wondering why I didn't opt to pay the extra $75 a month to get the desiel.I had a '02 V10 srw with the same trans and gears and I could average 10.6 mpg a year and half the time was spent towing.
