i have a 89 ranger with a 91 explorer 4.0L crate motor in it. the engine light has been on for some time now so i got it tested and it told me that i needed a MAP sensor and a EGR valve. i got them both, put the MAP sensor in and i opened the EGR and it did not look like a familiar part at considering i put the motor in and all. does anyone know where the EGR would go i have looked for it and cannot find it and on top of all of that, my hayes manual tells me i don't have one???? what am i supposed to do? i'd appretiate the help thanks. yeah so i see that. i've got a check engine light on that says i do have one which is the wierd part. i've looked for it and no show and the vacum diagram does not show it either. same with the hayes manual. thats messed up everyone tells me oh no you have to have one and it should be right here so who knows. thanks
my 00 XLT EGR valve tripped my check engine light about 18 months ago. I went to autozone and they showed me where its at. (I actually found a AZ with someone who knows something lmao.) I still have not changed it. I dunno what year they did or didnt put the EGR valve on.
i'm using the original computer that came with the 91 4.0L that is in my 89 ranger. i took it out of a explorer that had a dash fire so i had to replace that one part but that was also out of a 91 because anything else and it wouldn't hook up right.
