no ignition no gages

I have had the truck in the canadaian cold for a few days, not been started. Today, I started the van (e-350 1991) it was running to warm up and then... I touched the break and the engine died. Not to mention the brake lights. Turn off, turn on. Nothing! I thought that a fuse must have blown. But am unable to find one blown in the fuse box.
Can anyone help me find the missing link.

Does anything electrical work at all ?
Have you checked the battery clamps, boosted the battery, etc., etc., etc ?

Look for bare or broken wires around the brake pedal lever under the dash. Make sure that the proper size fuse is installed for the brake lights(no tin foil). If you find some bare wires, and get it fixed up, and it still doesn't do anything, go out to the starter relay, and find some smaller wires hooked to where the + battery cable goes. In the smaller wires are some fusible links. Your problem may have caused one of them to blow.

No juice

Most everything works.
The Interior/exterior lights and buzzer for the door when the key is inserted. But none of the gages or dash lights/ warning indicators. The bad wiring diagram that I have indicates that there are a couple of curcuits that go to the ignition. I need to find the fuse that delivers the power for the above electrical devices to eliminate that possibility / as it is the easiest solution (fingers crossed).

I've looked at the wiring and can't see any damage metering is next.

What kind of problem are you having with your truck ? No-start ? Runs badly ? Missing parts ?
Narrow it down some & we can help you out.

hum..... It started

Ok So I checked a couple of things. Out in the -15 deg celsius which in F is a whole bunch of cold. Then having frozen half to death I pulled the van in the garage with my forklift and some lights on the dash came on and I was able to start the engine. Therefore the fuse must be good.
I've read that the ingition switch on early 90's models can be suspect.
Has anyone had an intermittently working ignition switch.

The common denominator that I see here is that the brake lights and ignition are both constant hot.
Is there a common connection between the battery and those 2 items that may be loose or corroded ?

Thanks AL that helps. Do you have any idea where that connection is?

Start looking at the battery side of the fender mounted solinoid switch. In case it's burried, just follow the + battery cable inward.
