i went out bought new wire harness ant pick and pull and the plug for the tranny is for an automatic and i have a stick i want to cunvert it so it fits my manual 5 speed
I first thought this would not be possible, since the auto truck and the manual truck use different computers. But it looks like they both use pin 30, with a white/black wire.
-On the auto computer this is the neutral drive switch.
-On the manual computer this is still pin 30, white/black and is called the neutral gear/clutch engage switch.
So I would look at the old harness, and find out where the white/black from pin 30 went to. I can't tell if it goes to the clutch switch, a switch on the shifter, or both.
Do you have a darkgreen/white dangle around under there? This is the vehicle speed sensor + pin 3.
There is another wire black/white, pin 6 that is vehicle speed sensor negative.
I don't know if your truck had the speed sensor in the tranny or the rearend like some of the larger trucks.
You might have a tan/lightblue pin 52. This is shift solenoid 3/4 and you won't use it.
You also might have in the auto harness a white wire pin 53. This is convertor clutch override, which you won't use also.
It probably is doable to change this thing around, but it's going to take a lot of head scratching.
Try to figure out if it's a fuel problem or a spark problem. Look at the fuel injection rail carefully around the engine and injectors, and see if you have a fitting that looks like a tire valve. You can check for fuel pressure there.
