Fuel air mix problem
Here's the long and short of it... I recently put on a 2181 Edelbrock performer intake manifold on my 351w. It has run great for the last 3 weeks. Over the weekend I drove and hour or so from Tulsa to Stillwater and by the time I got there something went wrong. It sounded fine the whole way there, but when I stopped at a stop light it just died dead as a door nail. I had to hold the gas to the floor to get it to start again, but when it started it ran real rough and shaky. I had to hold the peddal down slightly to keep it going. There was also a real strong smell of unburned gas and black smoke from the pipes. It only does this at or below 1000RPMs. At cruising speeds it does well. I think I might know what the problem is, but I want to know what you all think. I also have a Holley 6150 carb on it that is only 1.5 years old.

Ends up the float needle was stuck. (I think that's what it's called) Hope that doesn become a habbit. Easy fix. But while we're on the subject of Carbs... I have the original Motorcraft Carb that came off my 86 351, can I get the parts to rebuild it from any ol' auto parts store or will I need to special order them. I need the whole Electric choke assymbly and possibly new bowls and floats.
