Weigh Stations?

I'm moving from Dallas, TX to Tulsa, OK...I'll be driving my LN-9000 Dump Truck (Empty), Does anyone know if I'll need to stop at weigh station(s)? What about keeping a log? I'm delivering the truck for personal reasons. Anything I should know to keep me out of trouble?

Weigh are all closed on I 35. Stay within 5 mph of speed limit and you'll be OK.

If they are open. better go thru than be stopped. Is this a commercial vehicle? Do you have a CDL? If yes to both - I would keep a log to be safe. I would rather be on the safe side rather than wonder if I'm going to get a fine. Helps with the nerves.

I'd plan on stopping - you'll probably just get a green light to go through anyway but, beats explaining why you went by to a trooper!. keep a log in case

I don't think you'll run into much trouble. But for the last 7 years I've lived in this Tulsa area the only times I've seen big rigs pulled over, they were on Hwy44, along the turnpike between OKC and Tulsa. Once you get into T town it would be handy to have a radar detector if you've got a heavy foot. And welcome to Tulsa. There's a few of us FTE'rs in Oklahoma. When you get a chance check out the Oklahoma chapter and add some livelyhood to it. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/f...splay.php?f=92 Feel free to PM or email me with any questions you may have. Good luck.

I'm not sure WHAT the deal is on delivering commercial vehicles.
I do know that one of the gravy jobs out there are drivers that go collect big rigs for whatever reason (finally repaired, driver quit, etc...) and drive them point to point.

I remember using a company box truck for personal moving purposes one weekend. It was an air brake truck. I drove through the weigh station since it was open. I got pulled around back just like I always did. Told them I was moving and using it for personal use. They said since I was driving more than 50 miles I had to keep a log. I played stupid and was let off with a warning.

Thanks!

Thanks to everybody for the weigh station advice.
Moving is so expensive, I’m trying to save a couple of bucks by not hiring a driver; but a ticket would erase the savings and take all the fun out of it, and cost me even more! So thanks again for the advice…very helpful!

I believe that radar detectors are illegal in a commercial vehicle.

In ohio they can take your license for having one in the truck, even if it's bradn new and still in the box.

On the comment of delivery of new/used commercial vehicles form dealerhsip or from factory. I do that in the summer months and we are required to keep logs, physicals, drug tests up to date. Our dealership got fined for not doing this a couple of years ago
