Can anyone point me in the right direction for this information (2WD, 1977, F100, 302 vacuum system schematic) - the paper under the hood has deteriorated.
I've got an mpg issue that I just can seem to solve. I get about 11 mpg almost no matter what.
As things would have it, I've recently replaced my engine - no improvement, put (true) dual exhausts - maybe about 1/2 mph better, had my C4 tranny checked out and the guy said that it was in great condition. Also, the rearend ring & pinion (3.55) has been replaced, w/ new brg. kit. Still only about 11 mpg.
My previous 77 F100 seemed to come on to this same problem. Way back then (1984), tune-up shops actually knew how to work on this trucks and the guy told me that my vacuum system had some hoses improperly connected. When he put it the way it was supposed to, I started getting better gas mileage - my best avg. was 17mph, on the highway, taking it easy.
Any suggestion as to how to determine which of the 10 or so diagrams for the 5.0L are applicable to my truck?
I tried comparison but get bogged down with some of the component abreviations and components themselves.
Oh, by the way the Emmissions data sticker for my truck doesn't mention any useful information - for instance the Autozone diagrams give Calibration designations to each diagram, and they mention to look on the emmission sticker, but that info isn't there.
This is what you are looking for on the right bank valve cover.
If you get me the important info of this sticker I can tell you the exact diagram you need.
I need Number 1, Number 2, & the Number under the G (See where it says 80 on the sticker, I need to know what number you have 77,78,79 ?)
I don't have a listing for a F100,302,Auto,3.55, 49 state application.
The tallest gears they put in were 3.50's with std trans.
The rest of the sicker is too faded, but if you're needing the date of the truck I've found it else where as Mfr. 2/1977, originally with 3.07 gears (auto T (C4), brake booter, A/C)
