I always experience a race attitude and I drive a big Bronco. Say if I stop at a light and a couple hundred yards up the road a lane ends, I like to be in front so when the light turns green I punch it. Well the guy (or girl) sees this as a challenge and punches it too. Usually it ends up neck to neck in a merge. What I have found is this: If I don't pull all the way up beside them but hang back about a half a car length, people stop sensing a challenge and I always get the jump on them. By the time they realize I punched it, then I'm already a good car length on them and they don't bother. I think it's funny.
Otherwise if someone gets goofy because they are challenging me, I just them burn their gas up. My Bronco makes about the worst race car on the road.
I know all about those ricer flyby's. I have a Bronco II with 2.9 and Flowmasters with hollowed cat, and it's loud, so they hear me take off they decide it's a challenge and they get a head of me, only because I let them. Then they back off, so then I punch it and fly by them but slow down to the speed limit, and then it sounds like I'm getting attacked by a bee and then they fly-by. Best memory of this was last weekend, and he flew by me probably doing 70 in a 45 and there was a cop there. Hehehe, there was some pretty flashing colored lights after him.
ha i love those people ... i wonder if it really makes them feel good. when i used to have my chrysler conquest (2.6L Turbo 4 banger) kids in civics and whatever else would try to race me so id ride right next to them as they are slamming thru gears then id put my right foot down a little and blow them away ... then when i start slowing down they would go blowing by me and flash their lights like they won the race ... but hey if it makes em feel good im happy for them.
these days i get to beat them in my V-10 ... i just dont like watching my gas guage when i do it though
Jason
they called the conquest mustang killers for a reason
but my fav is going uphills and finding the ricers stuck and stopping luaghing then pulling away throwing snow all over
