got the r134a recharge kit. gauge says its overfilled. do the trucks have an overlimit switch on the ac that shuts it off? the compressor wont come on at idle but will kick on when your moving and will work for a few and shut back off. i dont know what else to look for now......
The pump should kick on at idle, and will cycle while operating. Check the wire connectors at the pump. On mine the one plug was loose and was causing a malfunction. Just grab the plug while running with ac on and wiggle the wires. It could also possibly be the ac clutch relay acting up.

Yeah, I'm not sure, expert at VW here.
However.... there is a high pressure switch that may be malfunctioning.
Not sure about Fords, but Audi's have a thermal capillary switch that has the capillary tube inserted into the evaporator that cuts out the pump if the evaporator gets too cold. If it fails it will make the compressor shut off too soon. Cycle on and off rapidly.
