Carb Question, cold start/stall problem

ok i have an 87 f-150, its got a 351w, and a 4bbl holley carb, heres my problem, when its cold outside like below 32F, when you start it, you set the choke it will fire up then die, you can do this all you want, but to keep it running you must hold the gas to keep the rpms up a little bit, i find this really odd and it didnt do it last winter, any help would be great, oh and it has a mechanical choke conversion on it. thanks guys.

Watch it to see how fast the choke is opening.
How long does it run before it dies out. Do you still have the hot air set-up on the air cleaner hooked up? If not, it could be carb icing.

try adjusting the screw on the passenger side of the carb that speeds up the idle as you pull the choke. its under the choke assembly where the cable hooks up. is it mechanical or electric choke? it sounds like the choke is not applying enough throttle to keep it from flooding. let us know what you find....

ok, it has a manual choke, if i press on the accelerator, for maby 2 minutes, and hold it just above the rpm it likes to stall out at, it will run fine, and the high idle is set right, but its the initial start up, for some reson, its a new development, and im not sure why,

And no, i dont have the warm air intake, its not causing this, because the motor hasnt any runtime to send hot air up that way, it is however causing me to have to run the choke slightly closed durring cold days, but im in the proccess of hunting down a new air cleaner assembly.

I thought about maby having the carb rebbuilt, i know it needs it, but it dosent seem that it would cause a problem like this, unless, maby my fuel bowl levels are off, ill have to give those a check real quick,

Thanks for any help, this ones got me stumped, bigtime.
