Hey Guys,
I have a 99 F250 Regular Cab Super Duty. I know that on 3/14/99, Ford changed hub diameters. My truck was built on the 18th of March so it has the newer diameter of hub size. My question is what was the difference in the diameters, why did Ford make the switch, and would new rotors for the new hub size fit on the old hub? Just curious about the difference in hubs. Thanks Guys.
From what I know its not the dia its the offset about .070 worth of change..I have an early 99 3-3-98 and from what I hear the newer wheel bearing with the rotors will work on my truck but I have to use the newer rotors...
Okay,
I found a TSB that says the old hub width was 10mm and the new width is 13mm. I ask about width b/c when I put my ART rotors on saturday, the passanger side went on very nicely. The driver side too went on well, but the rotor just barely rubbed the metal clips that hold the pads on. The rotor rubbed the outside clips, not the inside. What I did is put 1/16th inch spacers in to move the metal bracket that holds the pads out and away from the rotor. Everything seems okay and works well. No pull, etc. I was thinking that maybe, when the garage replace the driver side hub, they put the old style on instead of the new style: however, if the old style was on, it would've moved the rotor in a few mm, not out. Confused!!!!!
