starting issue

When starting the escape it will sometimes just keep cranking but not start. I went into ford and they put in a new fuel pump to see if that would help. Has anyone else had an issue like this

Try cracking the throttle while cranking. If that helps, it might be a sticking idle air control solenoid.

my 2005 have similar problem. First time won't start, but 2nd time can start it. My friend's 2004 have same problem.

I've been having this problem recently with my 2001 escape and don't know what to do. Fuel filter has been changed, some kind of round circular "chip" replaced and still the issue persists. Thinking about getting new battery....any suggestions? Of course the car starts right up for the mechanic. He doesn't believe it's the fuel pump (from my own diagnostics) Suggested changing/watching gas grade. We'll see if that works.
