1977 330 HD in an f350
I am having alot of problems getting parts for my 77 F350 with a factory 5.4 330hd,would the head gaskets be the same as a 360 or 390?
Because thie engine was a domestic special order when new, there are no listings for radiator hoses and water pump at any stores ,even napa.
would like to locate part numbers before trying to do the matching game.
this engine is usually found in an f600.
thanks

It's what they call an FT. It's the heavy duty brother of the FE.
I'd be guessing. But I bet the FE head gaskets and water pump will work, as well as and FE hoses for a 73-79 F Series. The differences to the FT are in the crank snout size and the distributor shaft size. Do you have it apart? Do you have the old gasket? Post a pic, I might have an FE gasket laying around to compare. I believe there are some differeces between FEs and FTs regarding exhaust and/or water flow.
sorry. looks like I gave more questions than answers....

went to another napa and they located the 330 FT listing and found head gaskets which are different from a regular FE,not in stock but will be in by tuesday.
could not find a water pump listing,i went to a pick a part today and it looks different from the 360's that were there.mine has a big housing with 2 thermostats,
the serarch continues...

I think you are on the right track by looking for FT parts specifically. Have you tried looking up parts for the same year or older F-500/600?
At work we use a few old cargo vans with FTs. When I have a chance, I'll ask our fleet mechanic where he scares up parts. NAPA is one of a few he's mentioned.

When I used to buy gaskets for my 390, usually, in a head-set, there were exhaust manifold gaskets for the FT/330's... sometimes you have to get someone at a parts store that is actually able to look through parts BOOKS - not the computer
The head gasket may be different because of thickness... (or bore)
I know you didn't ask for opinions, but I think you might be better off putting in a 390 if you get the chance. Or even a 360...
My brother who had an F600 with the 330 said it was gutless and worthless - he later switched to a 429
You might also want to check out whether a 361/391 water pump will fit, as well as other 361/391 (and 389!) parts.

Are you sure it's a 330 HD? There are 330 MD's with the same crank snout as the regular FE's. If it's an HD, then the crank snout, the distributor, and the exhaust gaskets/manifolds will be different. The distributor will have the larger hex shaft, and possibly be governed. Water Pumps are tricky because the engine went into a bunch of configuration trucks. F, N, C models. There are low mount pumps and high mount pumps, which is used to place the fan at different heights. I would go for a regular F-600 regular or mid mount pump and go from there. My 68 F-600 has a 330 MD. The pump has like two "feet" which is where it mounts to the block.
