I believe they charge you a small percentage. I had looked into it a while back. You actually set up an account with them online, deposit money to them with a credit or debit card, and they forward the money to the seller's paypal account. Nice thing about it is if you are really in a hurry for something the seller gets their money a lot quicker and usually ship right away.
Since you are the buyer it doesn't costs you a dime. You can leave money in a PayPal account or none. It is very handy if you plan on spending time at eBay. Which makes it very handy and very

I have used Paypal as both a buyer and a seller and have never had a problem with it. It is great to use when you are buying something on ebay since the money is immediately transferred to the person you are buying something from. You can also set it up where you don't have to keep money in the paypal account, instead you can have it directly debit your checking account. Good luck!
FYI. You dont set it up to debit your checking account...it will automatically! I stopped using paypal because it started deducting from my checking account without my authorization! I liked to use my credit card and pay it off every month. That way my wife didnt see how much I was actually spending. When it goes straight to my account, Im busted. Which leads to this..
When you use PayPal, you have the option of paying with your debit/checking account, or a credit card. If you use the credit card one time, and the next time, you plan on using a different source to pay, you have to go into your user preferences and change the settings.Otherwise,it will use the same source as the previous purchase. PayPal doesn't deduct anything from any account that you haven't authorized. I use PayPal as a buyer and as a seller, and have never had a problem either way. They even back you as a seller on "chargebacks", as long as the buyers shipping address is "Verified" with PayPal.
Hey yall... now we're relaly talking my style. I love ebay and also signed up for paypal. IF you get the basic paypal, it is free.. if you want a prefered member it is a $5.00 charge I believe. IT doesnt cost the seeler or buyer to send or recive money. Setting up an account does take at least 1 week but well worth it... you wont have to deal with personal checks or money orders and the post office. Ive never had a problem with getting moeny or sending it Have a great day
PayPal didn't charge me anything to set up a Premier business account. The business account is for sellers to accept charge card payments. PayPal DOES charge a percentage when you sell your item, but doesn't charge you when you are the buyer.I sold an item for $55, and I believe PayPal took out $1.10 for their fee.Once you have received payment thru PayPal, you can have it transferred to your bank/checking account, electronic transfer, (3-4 days) doesn't cost a dime.
I have used Paypal to buy stuff on E-Bay and have been pleased with their service. Their is no charge to the buyer and your money is transfered to seller quickly.
