I have a 2000 f-250 crew cab 4x4 with the v-10 and 104000 miles on it. I have had problems with the front hubs. When you turn the wheels it acts like it is in four wheel drive it feels like the hubs are locked and turning all the time. I checked the hubs and they are in auto like they are supposed to be. But then I took it in and they replaced the hubs. Now not even a year later it is doing it again. So I took it back and they replaced them for a second time. That was 2 weeks ago and it has already started again. Any help or suggestions would be greatly apprecatied.
Could you tell us if it is ESOF or manually shifted?
You shouldn't feel the front end "pull" unless the hubs are locked and the transfer case is in 4wd. If it is ESOF, I would suspect you have either a problem with the T-case motor, the switch itself, or an electrical problem, not the hubs.
Is whoever is doing your work doing any diagnostics for the problem, or simply replacing the hubs? You should ask for your old parts back when you have something replaced, I don't think there was anything wrong with your old hubs.
If it is indeed the hubs, a set of aftermarket manual hubs might be the way to go.
Make sure its in 2wd and have someone look to see if the axles turn when moving slightly or grab the axles by the ujoint behind the wheel they should turn free in 2wd. The front driveshaft should turn free in 2wd.
With all the problems that esof gives If I had it I would go to manual hubs in a second.
I have an 04 c/c 250 with manuel locking hubs and a shifter on the floor.
When you lock the hubs in bad weather, cruise in 2 wheel dr. and turn sharp into a parking space or around a sharp corner it acts like its in 4x4. took it to 2 dealer ships and they said they all do it. doesn't sound right to me. My old 75 4x4 turn it as sharp as you want,no problems at all.Guess ford tecnnogly is going down hill. Thinking of buying a C@#^* next time.
It is the esof set up. I dont think it sould do it all the time because it didn't do it when i first bought it. The repair shop siad it has been a problem with the Fords and never mentioned about it being anything else. I am just completely stumped???

If your axles are not turning you will not have any issues.
Don't understand what you are saying. I'm gonna spell it out to you simply.
If your transfer case is in 2wd and your axles are spinning then your hubs are not unlocking in which case you will get some bind around corners. realize that these hubs are junk..Pull the hubs out its just a clip and see if the symptoms go away also your axles and driveshaft shouldn't spin if in 2wd with the hubs out. If it does the transfer case needs to be looked into. If you get good results with pulling the hubs out then you either have a hub issue directly or a vacuum issue since that is what controls them..
Hope this helps
