Tried to lock my 04 with the automatic lock button on the drivers door and before I could get the door closed the drivers door would unlock as if I had left the key in the ignition. This continued to happen over and over until I locked the doors with the remote and has not happened again. Is there something that I am missing? The other thing is my steering wheel does not lock like my previous truck?
It may be the built in delay some trucks have. If you push the lock button on vehicles with that feature, they'll usually chime at you or something. Try shutting all the doors and see if it locks itself after 5 or 10 seconds.
my solution, lock doors with door lock switch, wait a few seconds and door will unlock(if engine still running), then push lock down yourself and door should stay locked.
i do not know if engine running/off makes a difference. the only time i use it is if paying for fuel or when picking daughter up at daycare and i want to let the 6.0 run.
The truck is not running and the keys are removed from the ignition. However, it is acting like the key is still in the ignition. How about the steering wheel lock. Moine appears to not have this feature.
Jeb, that is the question. My steering column does not lock when I remove the key. However, that is a seperate question from the intermitting problem of the drivers door not wanting to stayed locked when I use the lock button on the door. It is acting like the key is still in the ignition when it is not. I hope I am not confusing everyone here.
my steering wheel does lock and doors stay locked(engine off) if i use door switch.
you may want to see dealer about door lock probelm
had simular probelm with 02 ex and they had to replace the theft device box now my vechile dings if you go over 75 mph, dealer said they could change that, but it seems to be a good reminder to slow down
It could be related, though. If the vehicle thinks the key is still in the ignition, it may not allow you to lock the doors. With all the systems on today's trucks, that's a very real possibility. I bet if you fix the steering column problem, you'll fix the other, too.
My 2004 F-250 S/D would not lock one time, as You have described and I put key back in ignition and started up truck and turned it off again, then it started back working properly and have not had this problem again. I think that the switch got hung up and corrected it's self after cycling the switch to start truck. I would take it back to the dealer and let them look at it.
My 2004 F250 Harley Edition did that one time, never did it again. I chalked it up to the automotive gods. Let us know if you find something out from the dealer
