ignition help

I have an 86 f-150. I have a crane cam and a complete new crane valve train. I have replaced the stock feedback carb with a 2300 series 500 cfm Holly 2bbl carb. I have removed all the stock emission equipment and most of the sensors. The electronic advance is not advancing on the road. I have considered using an older points igniton or possibly an older electronic ignition with vacuum advance. Which would be my best bet for a daily driver? Whats the difference between single and dual vacuum advances? What all would I have to change for an older electronic igniton and what would I have to do? What parts would I need?

Ford Duraspark II electronic ignition is a good selection for a daily driver. Just for fun you can look at www.gofastforless.com there is a GM HEI module and Ford DSII distributor set-up that works great. I converted my '86 to the HEI/DSII combo and am very happy with it. Either of these two systems work great and won't cost an "arm and a leg" to install.
