I just built a number of cabinets out of fir ply, and put a lot of drawers into them. Then I started collecting Tim Horten's Coffee can's. They fit in my drawers for smaller parts like nut's, bolt's, or screws. Then if I need them I take out the can put a lid on it and go wherever I need to with it. For the larger stuff I have a ton of shelving and upper cabinets mounted in my garage.

No matter where I put something. . . . when I set it down . . . .
my wife will pick it up and put it where SHE wants it.
Problem solved. SHE organizes it.
