I have been concidering the Offy intake/ 4v holley combination. I have read that it is not a good cold weather set up. Right now the temp outside my window is -20 F. My 77 f250 is still equipped with the 1 bbl stock carb with electric choke. It started like a champ this morning. I have always found that ford has a good choke system and I have never been stopped in the winter because of carb problems. I have had the same good luck with the 2150 on my 351 and 400m motors. The choke caps need replacing occasionally but they last me for several years. Is there a 4 bbl that is good for year round reliability? I would concider using one carb in the winter and another in the summer but ideally I would prefer the one reliable carb. Is anyone using the offenhauser intake with the 2150 carb?
Any thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated.
if you do the 4bbl conversion, all you will need is an electric choke, and a heated spacer carb plate like the older Galaxies came with (has a port that the heater core hose connects to and the rad juice goes through to keep carb warm). Also a good time to change over to the EFI tri headers and open up the exhaust while ya tearing it apart.
Great idea for heating a 4bbl Holly/Offy setup. Where do I get the heated spacer carb plate for this setup. I've been trying to figure out a way to heat my carb for a long time. Ole' Blue is mighty cold-blooded in the winter mornings. Thanks.

They will pop up from time to time on Ebay. I bought one but it was slanted to angle the carb. there are slanted ones and flat ones. You will probally do best with the flat one. I got lucky and found 2 flat ones while in NC at my buds scrap heap. Most likely you will find them on early 60's FE motors.
