i ordered my new 250 v10 larait on jan2 and got the word today its going to be built on jan 25, any way of aproxing how long to the dealer ? as he states he will not know until its fully built. i just interested so i can arange my own financeing and have it in place to take delivery asap when it gets here. down 1 vehicle in this family as it is.
I am also considering ordering a F250 Lariat V10 and my dealer told me 8 to 10 weeks delivery. Was he just feeding me a line to try and locate something close to what I wanted from another dealer instead of ordering. I even live in KY where they are built!

i think jeff the sales man is the only one of us who can truely anwser that one.
i ordered jan 2 , order placed jan 3rd, found out build date jan 21 , for a build on jan 25, when i ordered i was told 8 to 12 weeks "depending on ford" sales person stated they had received trucks in a record of 16 days to as long as 3 months, that there was no way of knowing untill they received the information from ford.
in 92 i ordered a ranger stx and had it in 18 days, so i guess its really up to ford and how long it takes to be shipped, shipping time for you may be as my ranger was. driven to the dealer by a real person. in this case 65 miles from edison nj to wayne nj. good luck with it i think you will be as i am, glad. any ?'s about the truck go in to the v10 or superduty area and ask these men, at any rate i am glad i paid the 15.95 its worth more then that small amount. the new s/d hope you have driven one, i can not beleive how smoooth compaired to the 95 150 i'm driving right now,
look and read the forums the info here can turn heads and i've been a mechanic for 40 plus years,
standard answers from dealer are 6-8 weeks for delivery
that can depend on their allocation if it is a hot model and be changed by production at the plant
once they have a build date they can get closer to delvery time
there are less plants and production is very tightly scheduled now
a missing part can change production dates and that might be out of control of Ford and certainly your dealer
when they have a VIN and invoice date, delivery is usually in a week
LIL BLUE (my Ranger) was ordered November 18, built the week of December 8th and delivered to me on Christmas Eve - ahead of schedule
Below is part of my tread called order to delivery. Delivery took 13 days the first time and its on schedule for 14 days this time. That is delivery to Spokane from Kentucky (actually, it is railed to Seattle and trucked back to Spokane - 250 miles). New truck should be delivered within 7 days
Unfortunately, I've had to order my F350 twice, but it is interesting comparing the two order timelines. I realize that there are many factors that can impact the timing from order to delivery, but my factors remain relatively the same.
First order was place 11-10-04, schedule build date established 11-14, locked for production 11-28 (keeping the same build week - minor miracle), built 12-8?, shipped 12-9, and was delivered 12-22-04. 42 total days.
Second order was placed 12-23-04, status was clean and unscheduled for 14 days (I assume this delay was caused by the factory being closed), 1-11-05 status changed to locked for production, week of 1-17th is schedule build week, with delivery schedule for week of 1/31st. Assuming mid week delivery, this is 41 days total days.

FWIW, that'll be about a week ahead of my two stock units- but your's had a sold priority code on it. I think folks don't realize how much dealer allocation and option content can affect lead times.
My confirmation invoice is dated 12-2 and the dealer is telling me that it is built, left the factory but has not arrived at Hadleys(transport) so it is not in the computer. Called me today to say it still is not in the computer and is probably in a railyard somewhere. Originally they told me 4-6 weeks for delivery. After 4 weeks said factory shut down for two weeks for holidays. They don't even have a VIN yet! Salesman told me today the Fleet mgr said sometimes they are in this railway limbo for 6 weeks! I'm starting to get frustrated.

They do literally get sucked into a black hole from the time they roll onto the railcar to the time they pop out at the railhead- drives folks crazy (dealers included). If there's no VIN in VINCENT, it usually indicates a delayed ship (yes, there is a railcar shortage). This really is just routine stuff.

I wonder how Dodge can track this easier than Ford? Several years ago when I purchased a Durrango, they gave me the rail car number and I was able to go to the rail road company site and track the car like UPS. That cost me lots of sleep

Different computer system. We've often wondered the same thing- it's those last ten days that drive customers absolutely crazy sometimes.

Thanks for the reassurance Polarbear, Its just that I've heard horror stories about damage in route and patches that the customer does not learn of until the paint fades! I'm off to the east coast today for a funeral so at least it will be off my mind for a few days. I'll be looking for good news from the dealer next week when I return.
thanks for the updates and suport guys, i had a dodge and could not wait to get out of it so i turned it in as a down payment.sure stinks being down 1 car or truck while you wait for a new one. for me it looks like around or just over 1 month start to finish.
thanks again

Hey Bear, Have to share this...just got off the phone with the Fleet Mgr. who told me he just got the build confirmation today with a date of Feb. 8. My salesman has been telling me for three weeks that it was built and left the factory but must be held up in the railyard. So much for straight talk from your salesman. I'm still frustrated!
