I am new to this site and already enjoying it very much. have a 92 f-150 5.8l and ready for new cats and exhaust.time for a tune up also and disgusted with the thermactor engineering placement. read all post for removal and this is not my choice for dealing with the problem.looking now to relocate some items; specifically the air bypass valve. metal tubing is very much in the way for spark plug removal and hose out the back to the diverter valve in the way for checking transmission fill level. can the air bypass valve be installed on its side or upside down. thanx for all help in advance. great site.
valve can be installed in any position, there is nothing that can fall out of place if turned upside down or sideways. Just keep the connections on the same ports and the same size hose.
Thank you for your reply broken wire. I felt as if it could be but was not sure how the valve operated. If it was a spring return i did not know it would not return properly.
I was also told to not use rubber for my lines because if the check valve at the back of the heads failed; too much rubber would be a large fire. ford techs told me they have seen these check vavles fail and the rubber hoses catch fire; minimal rubber so small fires that burn out.
